Why Commenting On LinkedIn Is Your Most Undervalued Asset

Hi Reader,
While we very strongly recommend posting 2-3x a week on Linkedin (I post 5x today, which is lower than daily posts in 2022, 2023 & 2024), for those who are hard pressed for time - commenting is the highest-ROI activity you can do on LinkedIn in 2025. As always this is backed by data.
The Algorithm Loves “Depth” Over “Width”
The 2025 LinkedIn algorithm has shifted. It no longer rewards mindless scrolling or generic “Great post!” interactions. It craves depth.
- 30-75x More Reach: Research indicates that posts with active comment sections can achieve 30 to 75 times the reach of posts that only have likes.
- Profile View Surge: Strategic commenting on just 10-20 relevant posts can increase your own profile views by up to 50%.
- The Multiplier Effect: A post with 50 thoughtful comments now outperforms a post with 500 likes. The algorithm analyzes the quality of conversation (using natural language processing) to determine if your content is worth distributing further.
The “Smart Work” Sales Strategy
I have always believed in “smart work over hard work”. You don’t need to write a 1,000-word article every day to stay relevant. You just need to show up where your prospects are already hanging out.
- Piggyback on Authority: When you leave a high-value comment on an industry leader’s post, you are instantly visible to their entire audience. You are borrowing their traffic for free.
- Trust Without the Pitch: In my sales career, I learned that trust precedes the transaction. A thoughtful comment demonstrates expertise without the “salesy” pressure. In fact, consistent engagement has been shown to account for up to 23% of a sales pipeline in B2B scenarios.
- The “Golden Hour” Rule: Engaging within the first 30-60 minutes of a post going live is critical. It signals to the algorithm that the conversation is hot, boosting the post (and your comment) into more feeds.
How to Execute (The Brain Box Way)
At Brain Box Catalysts, we don’t just guess; we use systems. Here is how you can operationalize commenting without spending hours on the platform:
- Curate Your Feed: Don’t let the algorithm decide what you see. Ring the bell 🔔 for 10-15 top voices in your niche (prospects or peers).
- Add Value, Don’t Just Agree: Avoid “Nice share.” Instead, use the “Yes, and…” approach. Agree with the premise and add a specific example, data point, or counter-perspective.
- Use Tools Wisely: We use our Platinum Partners' tools like Expandi & SuperAGI for outreach, but for commenting, human inputs are non-negotiable. Authenticity cannot be automated.
- Commit to 15 Minutes: Spend 15 minutes a day commenting before you post your own content. This “warms up” your account and signals to LinkedIn that you are an active contributor, not just a broadcaster.
The Bottom Line
Your next client is likely reading someone else’s post right now. If you aren’t in the comments section demonstrating your value, you are invisible to them. Stop waiting for them to come to your profile. Go to where they are.
