'Publicly' building my 4th startup: Week 1

When I floated the idea of building my fourth startup in public, your enthusiastic “yes” was overwhelming. Today, I’m excited to share the first chapter of Brain Box Gurukul’s journey with you, marking the beginning of our weekly chronicles in educational technology.
Why Another EdTech Startup?
The “why” behind any startup is crucial, and Brain Box Gurukul’s genesis stems from a unique intersection of experiences and market observations. Let me break this down for you:
Our journey begins with a strong foundation. We’ve successfully run a 360-degree PR and personal branding agency, serving over 150 clients. This experience, combined with my 14-year tenure in B2B sales and a successful exit from my first venture (a franchising business that grew to 15 locations in just 3.5 years), has given us invaluable insights into business scaling and market dynamics.
But here’s where it gets interesting – and where we spotted our opportunity.
The Market Gap We’re Addressing
In our daily interactions with clients and entrepreneurs, we’ve noticed a concerning trend: many professionals are still clinging to digital marketing strategies from 2022, expecting them to work in 2025’s radically different landscape. This disconnect between past practices and present realities creates a significant market gap.
While our agency, Brain Box Catalysts continues to serve clients in the Done-For-You (DFY) space, we recognized a growing need for accessible, current, and practical education in the digital marketing sphere. This realization led to the conception of Brain Box Gurukul – a platform dedicated to the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) segment.
Our Proof of Concept
You might wonder about our credibility in the educational space. Well, we’ve already tested our teaching methodology through a public case study. We successfully grew Arpita’s YouTube channel from 1 to 10,000 subscribers in just 100 days, documenting every step of the journey. This experience not only validated our approach but also demonstrated our commitment to transparency and results-driven education.
