What's Your ONE Thing?

Hi Reader,

In a world where everyone’s building something, talking about everything, and trying to be everywhere — the ones who stand out are remembered for just one thing. Not five, not three. One.

So I’ll ask you what I’ve asked myself multiple times over the years: What’s your One Thing?

The Mental Bias We All Have: Cognitive Hooking

  • Humans are wired to slot people into “buckets.” It’s how we reduce complexity.
  • When someone sees your profile or listens to your podcast, they’re not thinking “this person is multi-faceted and versatile.”
  • They’re thinking: what box do I put this person in?
  • Your job is to decide the box — or the world will do it for you.
“If you’re not known for something, you’re forgotten for everything.”

Narrowing Down to Your One Thing (Without Losing Depth)

Let's face it. We have 150+ clients across multiple verticals in Podcasting, PR & Personal Branding. But the common thread in all of them is "Distribution". I sign off on my LinkedIn posts with "360° PR & Personal Branding Excellence". That's it. All the different verticals work together to or "Amplify Your Brand."

Let's talk about our Podcast vertical which started off the whole "Brain Box" story. Our "Brain Box - The Leadership Podcast" stands for “Leadership through Founders’ Stories.” This was the message in our very first episode in September '21 and it rings true even 96 episodes later. If you ask me - this very crisp 3-minute message is what helped us even be voted 9th pan-India by Spotify in 2022. Anyone who listens to our podcast, knows exactly what they'll get.

You can still be multi-dimensional - but the entry point must be sharp.

A Quick Self-Audit

Now take a minute and think about these 3 things:

  • What do people thank you for most often?
  • If your name popped up on someone’s feed, what’s the first word they’d associate with you?
  • Can someone describe your “thing” in under 7 words?

Write back and tell me your “One Thing.”

And if you’re stuck, just send me your LinkedIn or website. We would be happy to help you find your sharp edge. Because in 2025, the people and brands that win aren’t doing more.

They’re saying less - with more power.
